Our Projects

LORD OF THE PENS

is an artist-led, creative writing and spoken word project that aims to enhance young people’s skills in writing, self-expression and poetry performance. Professional facilitators work with a youth group over 6 weeks to explore a central topic and share their unique experiences through the medium of spoken word.

REVOLVING DOORS

is a creative writing ‘flash fiction’ workshop where participants produce short stories under 1000 words. It is a dynamic artist led project which is targeted at ‘looked after’ children (children in the care of social services).  We engage young people using collaborative writing & performing techniques shared by experienced facilitators who themselves are performers, writers, and spoken word artists.  We explore a range of narratives and literary methods using diverse texts from writers such as, Chris Sibia – Product of my environment, Sherlock – Different, Robin Travis – Mama can’t raise no Man, Von Mozar – little Jamaica and Khadija Ward – Black Sterling.  The name of the project ‘Revolving Doors’ refers metaphorically to the cycle of care workers, services and institutions that young people are exposed to during their time in a ‘looked after’ setting.

ISOLATIONSHIPS

Isolationships – developed as a response to the isolation many young people were experiencing as a result of the first lockdown in March 2020. We created an online platform for young people to have a safe space to express, reflect and speak openly about their experiences of self-isolation.  Isolationships is essentially “the relationship you are having with yourself” during isolation and is aimed at supporting young people’s emotional and mental health well-being through group discussions, peer-to-support and motivational approaches.

TOOTBOX MEDIA

Tootbox Media is an accredited multi-media programme incorporating drama, film and videography. Young people have the opportunity to learn about the basics of acting, directing, filming, post-production, videography and editing.
